The project consisted of a 6,500 SF expansion to the existing Sarasota Bradenton International Airport Terminal. The project was required to provide space for the larger and more advanced screening of passengers after National Security Changes were instituted by Homeland Security. Construction in the most secure area of the airport operations requires coordination between airport security, airport operations and the Construction Manager to maintain safety and security. All workers and equipment are checked by airport security when entering the secure site. All workers are required to have background checks to enter the work area. Magnum was able to complete the work while the TSA operations continued with air passengers moving past the construction zone without even being aware of the project being completed within yards of the existing checkpoint.
